Korean Lilac

Syringa meyerii 'Paloban'

I bought 10 Korean lilacs just to see what they looked like.

This is their second winter, so we don't know if they are hardy here. They are cute: This is a dwarf lilac. By all accounts, they only get 3-4 feet tall. Their leaves are only about 1.5 to 2 inches long. On my specimens the flowers are pale lavender, about 1/2 the size of the common lilacs. They have the more delicate scent of late lilacs.

And if you treat them nicely, they will bloom a second time (fewer flowers, admittedly) in late summer.

This is a nice lilac as a foundation shrub; or as a front row shrub.
