Redosier Dogwood
This is the native dogwood, with a dark crimson bark. Moderately dark leaves, glorious dark red purple fall colour.
In winter the red bark adds colour to a landscape that badly needs it.
Prune to make bushy, or take the bushhog over it every 3-4 years.
Good shelterbelt species for damp areas.
Good deer distractant. (The deer can eat it instead of your garden.)
White berries are of interest to birds. Non poisonous, but don't have much taste.
