Utility Trees

Shelterbelt

”What is a utility tree?” you ask.

A utility tree is one that works for a living. A tree:

These are my shelterbelt trees. My privacy hedges. My naturalization trees and shrubs.

*”You grow these by the thousand. Why are they in pre-orders?”

Skyfest poplar

Bulk poplar in 1 gallon pots. I can get several kinds of poplar, as well as laurel willow, acute leaf willow,

Two reasons:

A: Some of them I’m not set up to grow myself yet. I got a call from a guy in Wetaskiwin yesterday. He wanted 500 Prairie Sky poplar. My supplier had 4000 left in stock, so it was a call to add them.

B: Because they are often bought in big quantities, the supply can be unreliable. I had one person who bought 160 Northwest poplar last year, and left me with 30. If I make a point of listing them in pre-orders, then you can’t tell me, ”Why didn’t you tell me that you only had 200 of these?”

As of Fall 2016, I can still get:

Poplar shelterbelt with chokecherry hedge.

Cheap doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty too.

SFTF ONLY means you are limited to what I have on hand in the table below I will try to update this once a month.

This table is not limited to shelterbelt trees, but is everything that I have more than a hundred of. It includes my Fall Inventory (always semi-fictional...) and what I’ve ordered for spring.
