For Would-be Treefarmers
Should that be wood be treefarmers
This section is for people who want to copy my lifestyle and start a tree farm.
My first advice: If you want to get wealthy this isn't the job for you. I've been putting 1200 hours and about $10000 a year for the last five years, and it now looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope that it's not an oncoming train.
My second advice. If you want to run a business this is a hard one to run. I find it hard to know if I've done something right. If I goof with my planting method in May, I may not know that until August. If I over fertilize in June, I might now know until leaves start turning brown three weeks later. Everything with trees is in slo-mo.
It would be even harder to know if someone else has done it right. How do I check if the soil is packed, but not too packed, without being there when it was done?
Anyway, as I write them, I'll put articles here on how I've done things. As always, your feedback is welcome.
